Our Story

On August 19th, 2015 Jake Engel passed away from a heroin overdose. A kind, charismatic, and hardworking member of the Long Island community, Jake’s death was a heart-wrenching blow to a community that has been devastated by drug overdoses and the opioid epidemic. Shortly after his death, Jake’s brothers and friends spontaneously organized a community basketball tournament in his name, and this tournament and foundation has continued to grow from then until now.
